This weekend June 5th & 6th, 2010 many national parks around the country are free to visit.
Check out the list on the National Park Service’s webpage for more information and to see which parks are participating.
According to the website, the parks that are participating in NY are:
Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site
Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site
Martin Van Buren National Historic Site
Sagamore Hill National Historic Site
Saratoga National Historical Park
Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site
Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site
According to the site, many of the park concessioners are also offering special offers for added value.

My mom was saying something about State Parks in NY were thinking about closing because of money. Have you heard anything about that?
Yes, they closed a bunch of them, but I think some of them opened back up. There’s one up here near Albany called Thatcher Park and it was a HUGE deal. Protests and everything!!
