Do you utilize your local library?
My title of this actually implies that I spend quite a bit of time in mine, but lately it’s been quite the opposite.
I tend to go online and search out books I’d like and I request them.Β When I get to the library, they scan my card and go to the reserved shelf and give me my stack.Β It’s great!Β I don’t need to search or go into “the stacks” at all.
Occasionally I do still take a wander up the aisles and scan through the new book shelf to see if anything catches my eye, but I usually have enough reserved that I can barely lift my back after I check them out….
Lately I’ve been reading (well it’s more like detailed skimming) books about blogging, job searching, management skills (just to keep me on my toes), cookbooks, and trivia type books.

Lately, I’ve been reading books about how to manage your money better. Also, a lot of articles on blogging, social media, etc. Confession: I haven’t been to a library in years. I own a lot of books and love to read fiction for fun, so I’ve been thinking about getting a reader (maybe the Nook).
I’ve been reading money management books as well. I like David Bach quite a big. I hear people talk about Dave Ramsey, but I haven’t read any of his books. I’ve thought about getting a reader, but I get so many of my books from yardsales (I’m cheap) and with the reader I’d be forced to buy them. Rather than get a reader I’ve considered the iPad, for a couple hundred more I can do more than just read books….
I haven’t read anything lately with the exception of your blog. I’ve moved from the Ozarks (arkansas) to the KC area. Do lease papers count as a good read? I haven’t checked out my local library. I’m still trying to figure out which Walmart is nearest to my house and where Target is and so forth. But, hey, read one for me please. My FAV is Jane Eyre.
Well if you’re going to read something I’m glad you take them time to read my blog π No, lease papers do NOT count as a good read! LOL!! All in good time you’ll figure out where everything is π
I don’t get as much browsing time as I’d like because I always have 3 little ones with me. But that’s how I usually get books. I request them when I know there’s a sequel coming up or I’ve heard about a really good book.
You should read “Graceling” and “Fire” by Kristen Cashore. I don’t know why, but I feel like you would like them based on your tweets…
I read mostly YA. And I blog about it on my book blog: goddesslibrarian.blogspot.com and for the examiner: http://www.examiner.com/x-36817-Albany-Young-Adult-Fiction-Examiner
I’m glad to see you’re a library supporter!
I imagine it is tough with young children along with you. I added the books to my GoodReads account. Are you on there?
They look like fantasy books am I correct? Not sure how my tweets would give that away though…. π
I read a few YA authors – Stephanie Meyer (though I don’t feel Breaking Dawn was appropriate for kids….) and I like Meg Cabot too.
I added your blog to my reader. I’ve heard about the Examiner and know someone else who writes for them. I’d love to pick your
brain about them at some point. π
Check out my poll I put up about library use at https://dozenroses13.wordpress.com/2010/07/05/poll-1/
I’m currently reading three cups of tea. I must admit the English is not that easy, no wonder they actually made a kids version of the book, but I like the story….Great blog by the way
Thank you π I have heard of that book. Does the kids version have the same title?
