The Weeklies ~ Week 21

The Weekly Re-cap: This week we talked about a working dog and a tree-climbing rooster.  I told you about a website called Opposites Connect that is launching soon and a bad date I went on.  You got to meet and learn more about my friend Jessica, we talked about loaded questions, bloggers & baseball….  Lastly I told you all about a fundraiser that takes place TONIGHT called Chase For A Cure.  Be there – all the cool kids are going!!

The Weekly Sad TV Situation: Romantically Challenged was canceled 😦

While brainstorming about what to write blogs about, I wanted to find a way for my readers to get to know some of the awesome people who I know.  The best way I could come up with was an interview series.

Meet my friend Jessica.  I’ve known Jessica since we were in high school.  We lost touch after graduation, but we were able to reconnect on Facebook last year.  So without further ado – get to know Jessica.

Jessica Traver

Name: Jessica Traver

Age: 30

Location: Staatsburg, NY

Hails from: Red Hook, NY

Jessica & Gary on their wedding day ~ February 14, 2004

Relationship Status: Married

Children: Giselle 4 years old

Occupation: Stay at Home Mom

What is the most challenging part of your job? trying to keep a 4 year old from not being bored

We’ve known each other since high school.  How do you think you’ve changed since then? Well I am not the wild child I once was, becoming a mother has mellowed me

You’re a stay-at-home Mom.  How do you think this will impact your daughter? I think being home with her shows her a surplus amount of love and support and will give us a greater bond.

The Traver Family

What do you think is the biggest challenge of being a stay-at-home? Wondering if my parenting skills are up to par, and hoping that I will instill the best in my daughter. There is no one to pat you on the back, since I feel most husbands feel its not a job.

Giselle ~ October 2009

Your daughter Giselle just turned 4.  How do you feel about her growing up and going to school next year? Giselle- Its going to be hard to let her leave the nest, but since she is enrolled in pre school now, I think that will ease my pain. I feel that she is developing a great head on her shoulders, she knows whats right and wrong. I feel she will become even more independent, and I feel that will be great as I do not want her to rely on Mommy and Daddy for everything.

Do you have plans to have another baby? yes one day

What’s guaranteed to make you laugh? Well hands down my brother and my husband. They are always guaranteed to have some story about work or what has happened in their daily lives. Bad luck follows them I guess

Maurice Benard as Sonny Corinthos on General Hospital

I know you watch General Hospital.  Who is your favorite character and why? Sonny– hes rugged and tough but yet he loves his family to death

Are you on Twitter? Yes

What’s your favorite meal to cook? Stuffed Shells

Are you happy that you still live near where we grew up or do you wish you lived in a bigger city? No I am content. I think living in the country is great when you have kids.

What is your favorite vacation destination? Florida since I lived there for 2 years

What is your favorite book? The Notebook

Tell me an interesting fact about yourself: I am OCD

What other questions do you have for Jessica?
Ask away?

Betty White & Robert Redford (at least I'm pretty sure it's him!)

Back in March when Betty White was on Larry King Live, Larry asked who was on Betty’s “to-do” list.

KING: What haven’t you done that you want to do?  Who is on your to-do list?

WHITE: My answer to that, my standard answer is always Robert Redford.   But that doesn’t get me anywhere.

KING: Have you ever met him?

WHITE: No, and I never want to.  I just want to enjoy it from a distance.  I would be panicky if I ever met him.  I’ve taken his name in vain for so long.

KING: You have to go up to Utah and he’s there.

WHITE: I know  He’s also in Santa Monica.

KING: He’s not – he doesn’t hide.  He’s public.

WHITE: I just don’t ever want to meet him.  It would spoil all the fun.  I want to fantasize and talk about him behind his back.

KING: I’ll tell you, he looks just as good as he does on-screen and has ever looked.  He’s aged very well.

WHITE: Oh, I – tell me about it.

It got me thinking – throughout my life I’ve heard people say things like:
I’d love to meet Bruce Springsteen.
I’d love to meet Sting.
I’d love to meet Eric Clapton.
I’d love to meet Sully Erna.
I’d love to meet Robert Pattison.
I’d love to meet Clint Eastwood.
I’d love to meet Vin Diesel.
I’d love to meet Duane “The Rock” Johnson
I’d love to meet Justin Bieber.
I’d love to meet Derek Jeter.
I’d love to meet Wayne Gretzky.
I’d love to meet Jackie Chan.
I’d love to meet Jennifer Aniston.  }
I’d love to meet Brad Pitt.              }  You can’t mention one without the other two….
I’d love to be Angelina Jolie.           }

Well my question is this:  what do you say to these celebrities once you’ve met them?  I don’t know what I’d ask them if ever I were in the situation to meet a celebrity I was in awe of.  I also worry that if I did figure out something to ask then, they’d be rude and/or do something to ruin their “perfect” image I have of them in my mind.

Betty White has the right idea.  She fantasizes about Robert Redford but she doesn’t want to meet him and “spoil all the fun.”

What celebrities have you met?
What did you say to them/ask them?
Did they say or do anything to ruin your view of then?
Or if you haven’t met a celebrity, who would you like to meet and what would you say to them/ask them?
