[tweetmeme] Do you remember when I asked for donations for the No Destination Poker Run to benefit The Ronald McDonald House?  Well one of the awesome donations we received was a 40″ Flat Screen TV!!  The group decided to sell separate raffle tickets for it.  The tickets are $10 each and the winner will be pulled on August 28th at the Poker Run.

You need to be local to Upstate NY because the winner of TV will need to pick it up in Round Lake, NY.

You can purchase tickets for the raffle or register for the poker run at The Rusty Nail in Clifton Park, Bentley’s Tavern in Malta, or The Mill on Round Lake.  You can also leave me a comment and I will contact you through direct email with more information if needed.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Do you sit home because you have nothing to do?

You have no excuse with meetup.com
Meetup has 100s of groups based on common interests that you can join.

We became part of our Motorcycle Club No Destination through meetup.com

Some of the bikes lined up with a few club members.

On meetup there are women’s groups, motorcycle groups, photography groups, Scrabble groups, scrapbooking groups, travel groups, cooking groups, dining groups, movie groups….  the list goes on and on….  You can go to the site to search all of the different groups based on where you live.

At the time I’m writing this there are 76,213 Meetup groups, 7,051,603 different Meetup groups, 6,025, 384 Meetup events have taken place, and there have been 67,635,015 RSVP’s.

Meetup.com is also great if you’re traveling and looking for something to do.  We have a member of our club who lives in Florida, but spends a lot of time working in New York.  He found the club online and joined us.

So next time you’re sitting home, bored with nothing to do – check out a meetup.com event and make some new friends 🙂

With No Destination – we’ve not only made some friends, we’ve made a new family 🙂

LOOK TWICE–SAVE A LIFE,
MOTORCYCLES ARE EVERYWHERE!!
Remind all of your family & friends that it is motorcycle season,
and taking a few extra seconds to take a second look will save lives of our loved ones.
Give motorcycle riders their fair share of the roadway.
We are everywhere….It could be ME or someone I care about!!

Thank you!

Today it WAS someone I care about.
Look once, look twice, and ya know what? Look again!!
The person who hit him did NOT look, it’s quite obvious they didn’t.
My friend is paying the price for their negligence.

My bike & I in Montreal, Canada - Picture courtesy of Michael T. Henry Photography

I rode my motorcycle today for the first time in about a year and a half.  I think the reason I haven’t ridden is because I am a algophobiac.

Algophobiac

Algophobia is the fear of extreme pain.  I’m also a trypanophiobiac, but that’s another blog all by itself….  Anyway, last year when I took my bike out for the first time, I dumped it.  Not badly, but enough that when I felt it start to fall, I thought I could hold it up.  HUGE mistake because I pulled all the muscles in my shoulders.  So because of this, I was a bit reluctant to get back on my bike this season.  But today, I did it!!
I didn’t ride it far, but I accomplished one of my biggest problem areas on the bike.  Turning from a stop has been the most difficult thing for me on my bike.  The reason is because my bike is VERY top-heavy and the center of gravity is very high.  I rode around a neighborhood development for about half and hour, around and around, stopping and going…  The landscapers and roofers probably thought I was nuts!  All in all it was a good ride because I didn’t drop the bike, and I am slowly starting to feel confident again.  I think figuring out that my front brake is VERY touchy is part of the culprit to my fear.  As soon as I touch it, it brakes and wants to pull the wheel to the side, which will tip the bike….  Now that I am aware of the problem, hopefully this will help me to be more confident in my riding.  Hopefully I can keep my algophobic fears at bay!!

What are you afraid of?  What phobias do you have?
