I got this shirt when I was down in Key West.  In the past when buying shirts – I tend to find certain brands I like and I stick to them.  The bulk of my wardrobe is Hard Rock Cafe, Harley Davidson, and NY & Co..

My love of all things Hard Rock started years ago.  My first Hard Rock shirt was from the Sky Dome in Toronto, Canada (I don’t think it’s there anymore – does anyone know?).  Later in life, I started searching for Hard Rock Cafes in my travels.

Then I started liking motorcycles and started visiting Harley dealerships….

NY & Co. – their clothes just fit me well 🙂

Do you have certain brands you love?
Is there a reason?

The Weeklies ~ Week 21

The Weekly Re-cap: This week we talked about a working dog and a tree-climbing rooster.  I told you about a website called Opposites Connect that is launching soon and a bad date I went on.  You got to meet and learn more about my friend Jessica, we talked about loaded questions, bloggers & baseball….  Lastly I told you all about a fundraiser that takes place TONIGHT called Chase For A Cure.  Be there – all the cool kids are going!!

Cast of Romantically Challenged

The Weekly Sad TV Situation: Romantically Challenged was canceled 😦

The Weekly Schadenfreude: New York State Governor Patterson wanted to put New York State workers on a temporary 1 day per week un-paid furlough.  A judge put a temporary restraining order on the furloughs.  So instead Patterson may lay off 10,000+ state workers.  I bet 1 day off isn’t looking so bad now huh?  If you have a job be thankful you’re employed.

The Weekly Tea: We broke out my Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker this week.  We made some Lipton White Tea with Island Mango and Peach Iced Sweet Tea and it was yummy!!

The Weekly Food: We had some leftover pork loin and smashed potatoes from last nights No Destination dinner at The Mill Tavern after the ride for dinner tonight.

The Weekly Amazing Fact: According to OMGFacts on Twitter:  The Statue of Liberty’s feet are 25 ft long, making her a US women’s shoe size 879.

Happy Birthday!

The Weekly Birthdays: David Onufer, Jim Mergenthaler, James Demontozon, Gaston Vega Vallejo, Rita Davenport, Alison Payette-Lovely, and Paul Fred.  I hope you all had a wonderful birthday!!   Leave me a comment here on the blog and tell me what you did for your birthday.

The Weekly Holy Shit Headline: A 13-year-old middle schooler named Raymond Hosier was suspended for wearing rosary beads to school.  The school says their dress code states that beads may not be worn because they’ve been known to be gang symbols.  The young man wears them as a remembrance of his older brother Joey who was killed by car back in 2005 and for his uncle who died of cancer two weeks ago.  The news story is here.  The comments on the story were VERY interesting too!

The Weekly Activity: Job hunting, blogging and networking.

The Weekly Damn It: Key Bank is now giving out an 8GB iPod Touch if you open a new account and do a few things to establish the account.  I’m bummed because I already have an account and I’m not eligible!!  Anyone want to open an account and give it to me??

The Weekly new people I’ve found on Twitter: Sonny’s BBQ (FL), Blue Martini (Tampa), Wet Seal, Funny Spoon, Nerd Approved, Saratoga Winery, Tweetup Saratoga, Hard Rock Cafe, and Mike Keane.

Tracks

What the hell, I’m going to publish this at 5:30AM instead of 9:15 AM.  Forgive the spacing, WordPress keeps changing where I put everything!!!!

New Hamburg Train Station

This past Thursday January 21, 2010 Michael & I went to NYC because I won tickets to go see Cavo & Joshua Radin at The Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square.  We decided to get up early (well early for us anyway) and drive down to New Hamburg, NY to catch the Metro North train from there into Grand Central Terminal.  On the train ride down we passed Bannerman Castle.  I had recently seen something on the news about it and it looks like it could be really cool to visit if they can get the place restored….

On the train ride down there my good friend Dave from high school started texting me.  He goes into the city all the time so I asked him where we could find good NYC Pizza.  He referred us to Two Boots on the lower level of Grand Central Terminal.  Michael had a slice that had sopressata and sweet Italian sausage on it which he loved.  I kept it simple with a slice of Sicilian with some plum tomatoes and fresh mozzarella on it.  Thanks Dave for the help 🙂

Bryant Park

Once we got lunch out-of-the-way we decided to start wandering around the city.  So I checked out my handy-dandy Inside Out Map of NYC to get us going in the right direction and off we went.  (Inside Out Maps are AWESOME!  They’re a bit smaller than a paperback book and the map just flips open and everything you need is right there.  They also have a built-in pen and compass.  We decided to head towards Times Square and wander around there because that’s where we needed to be for the concert.  On the way there we passed through Bryant Park which was kind of cool for me because I’ve watched Project Runway lately and that’s where New York Fashion Week takes place.

Hershey Store

Checking out the pastel M&Ms

Once we got to the Times Square area, we went to Godiva, The Times Square Hershey Store, and M&M World.  Yes, yes, yes we went to NYC to buy chocolate!!  We got a few truffles at Godiva.  We got some York Pieces and Almond Joy Pieces at Hershey’s.  We ended up not buying anything at M&M World but we had a fun time exploring the store and taking pictures.  They have this thing that you stand in that scans you to tell you what color your favorite M&M is.  Mine came back White because I’m so kind.  I let out a big laugh with that one 🙂

Looking at puppy shirts....

Hanging with the M&M Monkey

I was thrilled when they told me that they had a puppy section.  They had some cute stuff, but they were kinda overpriced, and didn’t look like they’d fit Bella well, so we didn’t get one….  We did end up getting her a squeaky yellow guitar at The Hard Rock Cafe later in the evening though.  We’re going to give it to her next time her Daddy and her Uncle Shawn play Guitar Hero or Rock Band because she likes to squeak along to the music….

The Late Show

We walked over to the Ed Sullivan Theater where they film The Late Show with David Letterman.  There was a HUGE line of people outside waiting to get inside for filming.  I think they were on stand by because we walked by a short time later and heard them announce that they had everyone they could use for the day and “Better Luck Next Time.”

Times Square

We went to Dave & Buster’s for dinner.  (I know, not somewhere most people would pick in NYC, but we had fun)  We had a nice dinner and then we played some trivia and a couple other games.  All in all we ended up with 1,070 tickets.  We ended up not cashing them in.  We’ll hold them until next time we go there and hopefully get something nicer.  I could have gotten a shirt or something, but I wouldn’t wear it so we’ll wait….

After dinner we decided that we’d had enough walking (my feet were KILLING me) so we went over to The Hard Rock Cafe and got in line for the Cavo & Joshua Radin concert.  After about 20 minutes someone came out and asked all the people who had VIP Meet & Greet tickets to form a separate line.  Everyone from the line moved to the new line except for us and two guys behind us.  Michael joked with the guy in charge “Come on, you can’t take 4 more can ya?”  Angelo from Sony Music said “What the hell, when you get to the table tell them Angelo said it was okay.”  So in we went.  Honestly I’m not a real “star-struck” type.  I never know what to say to them and usually end up saying something stupid.  That night was no exception.  While talking to Joshua Radin I said “Well I know you’re not supposed to say Good Luck to performers so how about break a string?”  I thought it was amusing instead of break a leg.  Luckily he DIDN’T break a string that night.  Joshua and the members of Cavo were all really nice guys.  After the meet and greet we were able to get a table with a nice view of the stage and we invited the two guys who were in line with us to join us.  We had a nice conversation and a great time at the concert.

Joshua Radin playing in the crowd

After the concert we went back to Grand Central Terminal to catch out train back to New Hamburg.  Boy were we tired!  We finally got home around 3AMish I think.  Thankfully Shawn was able to stay at the house with Bella because she probably would have freaked out if she was left alone that long.  I’ve gotta admit – we’ve spoiled her a bit when it comes to attention and companionship….  She was thrilled when we got home 🙂

The Weekly Read: No One Cares What You Had for Lunch – 100 Ideas for Your Blog by: Margaret Mason
I thought this book was great for ideas.  Check out my review on my Goodreads page.

The Weekly Music: Keith Urban – Only You Can Love Me This Way
Keith was on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week and played the song.  I thought it was lovely.

The Weekly Movies: Jury Duty – One of my favorite old Pauly Shore movies.  I love his little sidekick dog named Peanut.  I also like Sean Whalen who plays Carl Wayne Bishop in the movie.  He’s got such a creepy look to him….

I also watched Enchanted staring Amy Adams & Patrick Dempsey.  I thought it was a really cute movie.  Though I felt bad for the poor little chipmunk Pip who kept trying to warn Giselle throughout the movie.

The Weekly Time Waster: Michael & I went to the Times Union Job Fair.  They have it a few times though-out the year at a local hotel.  We’re disappointed with it every-time we go, yet we continue to go each time they have it.  Out of about 80 companies that were represented I gave out 1 resume.  You find companies that say “Here’s our web address, go there to apply” (Why do they pay the astronomical $$ to rent the booth to say this) or companies looking for very specialized positions such as Doctors and RN’s.  Then there are the financial services companies that want you to sell investment products and insurance.  We avoid those like the plague.  There was a bank that’s always been there in the past I wanted to introduce Michael to, but of course they weren’t there.  I gave my one resume to a bank in case you were wondering.  (When I gave it to him, he told me to go online and apply)

The Weekly Downer: Watching people I call friends behave like children because they weren’t happy with election results.  No politician is perfect.  We’re adults.  We can agree to disagree without it turning into a blow out.

The Weekly Special Mention: Goes out to my newish friend Ellie – Kudos to you for being able to discuss a hot button political issue like an adult.  Not sure I agree with you, but we can agree to disagree.  🙂  I am trying to learn more about the details of the issue we discussed.

The Weekly Worst Piece of Crap on TV: The Bachelor – What a bunch of needy pathetic women.

The Weekly Tea: The Whistling Kettle’s Strawberry Pepper tea

The Weekly Food: Chicken, Bacon, Roasted Red Pepper Crepe from The Whistling Kettle in Ballston Spa, NY

The Weekly Amazing Fact: New York City has 722 miles of subway track.

The Weekly Birthdays: Mark Rogers, Meghan Sharp, Dan Boyd, Melissa Lane & Ryan McCann

The Weekly No-Shit Moment: Holy Schnike’s Trader Joe’s Wasabi Mayo is HOT!!! Though I might have to try their Wasabi Sliders Recipe….

The Weekly Concert: Joshua Radin & Cavo at The Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square – NYC
What a great time!!!  I’m going to tell you more about our trip next week, so stay tuned 😉

The Weekly Activity: Coming up with blog ideas.  It’s not nearly as easy as I thought it would be….

The Weekly Shoes: For half of the week it was my slippers.  Is it weird that I really like slippers that have leather bottoms?  I like them because I tend to trip on carpets with rubber soled ones….
For our trip to NYC I wore my high heeled black boots which usually aren’t a problem.  I don’t think the boots were the problem, but I think my Extra thick Thorlo running socks were.  I got a blister.  Boo!!

The Weekly new people I’ve found on Twitter: Joshua Radin Greeblemonkey and Barbara Walters

The Weekly Charity I’m pimping: My friend Maureen is running a marathon for The Arthritis Foundation.  You can donate to Mo HERE

Weekly Grand Totals:
Number of Trivia Games I won:
3
Number of NYC Blocks Hiked: Felt like thousands, realistically it was about 50 or 60
Number of Pandora items purchased: 2
Average gratuity that was added to our food bills: 19%
Number of cool new people we met in NYC: 2
Number of Jets fans we saw: 100’s
Number of chocolate stores we went to in NYC: 3
Number of batteries Michael went through in his Blackberry Storm on our NYC Trip: 2
Amount of battery I used in my HTC Touch Pro 2 on our NYC Trip: 60%

The Weekly Hypothetical: If you could meet your favorite musician of all time (alive or dead) what would you say to them?  (Also tell me who it is)

The Weekly Not-So-Hypothetical: Did you subscribe to this blog yet?  If not, why not?  What are you waiting for?  The box is in the upper right 😉

Isabella was very happy when we came home 🙂
