Posts Tagged ‘The Bachelor’

This blog was inspired by my friend and local sex symbol Kevin Marshall’s blog “In The Present Tense.”  There are many things that I hate that other people seem to love.  Some of them I will probably never understand.

Napoleon Dynamite ~ 2004

Napoleon Dynamite has got to be one of the stupidest movies I’ve ever seen.  Can I please have my 82 minutes back that this movie robbed from my life?

Beer

Beer just doesn’t taste good to me.  I don’t know why.  I’ve tried it over and over.  I’ve tried many different kinds.  I just don’t seem to have a taste for it.  One exception would be Lindeman’s Framboise.   Though technically it is a beer (I think – my beer buddies can chime in) it doesn’t taste like traditional beer.  I call it “alcoholic soda.”

The Biggest Loser

I’m not a big fan of most reality TV shows.  I’ll admit, I’ve never watched The Biggest Loser.  Sitting around watching overweight people lose weight is not my idea of entertainment.  I watch TV for entertainment and information.  This doesn’t fall into either of those categories for me.

Paradise By The Dashboard Light

Now, I do NOT hate Meat Loaf, however, I do hate the song Paradise By The Dashboard Light that he recorded.  The song is long, the song is annoying, and I’ve heard it far too many times for this lifetime.

The Rockey Horror Picture Show ~ 1975

I don’t like The Rocky Horror Picture Show.  Maybe humor was much different before I was born?

The Bachelor

The Bachelorette

As I already mentioned I am not a fan of reality TV shows.   The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are both horrible.  First off – from what I understand – the people on the show sign a contract that if they’re the final girl/guy at the end they will marry the Bachelor/Bachelorette.  What if they like the person, but they’re really not “the one?”  This set-up makes a mockery of marriage.  When you marry someone it’s supposed to be for life.  On these shows these people spend all their time trying to make themselves look better than the person next to them.  They’re not spending their time in a normal environment getting to know anyone.  I watched some of The Bachelor this season and it was just ridiculous!

Swiss Cheese

I don’t like Swiss cheese.  It’s bitter.  I think it kind of tastes like what I imagine wax tastes like.  YUCK!

Tequila

Tequila is another thing I hate.  If it tastes like vomit going down, what does it taste like when it comes back up?  I’m sure a commenter can tell us….

WWE

I can’t stand WWE, WWF, or whatever they’re calling wrestling these days.  Why should anyone waste their time watching a bunch of grown men on steroids taking cheap shots at each other?  This is NOT a sport.  It’s over-sized stunt men and women.

Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull

I’ve never been a fan of Ian Anderson or Jethro Tull.  I’ve seen Jethro Tull live and I wasn’t impressed.  He kind of reminded me of a little gnome dancing around the stage with his flute.  Can he play the flute?  Yes.  Can he sing?  No way!

Delurker Day is in January

I HATE HATE HATE when people lurk at blogs.  I understand if you feel you don’t have something substantial to contribute everyday.  But for the love of GOD I had hundreds of views to my blog yesterday and only 1 comment.  Seriously people, if you want to read blogs, participate once in a while!!  I ask a question at the end of almost every blog I write so you’ve got no excuse….

Today’s question:
Tell me what you hate that everyone else seems to love.
If you’ve got a few extra minutes tell me why you hate it.

Please comment and subscribe.

The Weekly Read: No One Cares What You Had for Lunch – 100 Ideas for Your Blog by: Margaret Mason
I thought this book was great for ideas.  Check out my review on my Goodreads page.

The Weekly Music: Keith Urban – Only You Can Love Me This Way
Keith was on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week and played the song.  I thought it was lovely.

The Weekly Movies: Jury Duty – One of my favorite old Pauly Shore movies.  I love his little sidekick dog named Peanut.  I also like Sean Whalen who plays Carl Wayne Bishop in the movie.  He’s got such a creepy look to him….

I also watched Enchanted staring Amy Adams & Patrick Dempsey.  I thought it was a really cute movie.  Though I felt bad for the poor little chipmunk Pip who kept trying to warn Giselle throughout the movie.

The Weekly Time Waster: Michael & I went to the Times Union Job Fair.  They have it a few times though-out the year at a local hotel.  We’re disappointed with it every-time we go, yet we continue to go each time they have it.  Out of about 80 companies that were represented I gave out 1 resume.  You find companies that say “Here’s our web address, go there to apply” (Why do they pay the astronomical $$ to rent the booth to say this) or companies looking for very specialized positions such as Doctors and RN’s.  Then there are the financial services companies that want you to sell investment products and insurance.  We avoid those like the plague.  There was a bank that’s always been there in the past I wanted to introduce Michael to, but of course they weren’t there.  I gave my one resume to a bank in case you were wondering.  (When I gave it to him, he told me to go online and apply)

The Weekly Downer: Watching people I call friends behave like children because they weren’t happy with election results.  No politician is perfect.  We’re adults.  We can agree to disagree without it turning into a blow out.

The Weekly Special Mention: Goes out to my newish friend Ellie – Kudos to you for being able to discuss a hot button political issue like an adult.  Not sure I agree with you, but we can agree to disagree.  🙂  I am trying to learn more about the details of the issue we discussed.

The Weekly Worst Piece of Crap on TV: The Bachelor – What a bunch of needy pathetic women.

The Weekly Tea: The Whistling Kettle’s Strawberry Pepper tea

The Weekly Food: Chicken, Bacon, Roasted Red Pepper Crepe from The Whistling Kettle in Ballston Spa, NY

The Weekly Amazing Fact: New York City has 722 miles of subway track.

The Weekly Birthdays: Mark Rogers, Meghan Sharp, Dan Boyd, Melissa Lane & Ryan McCann

The Weekly No-Shit Moment: Holy Schnike’s Trader Joe’s Wasabi Mayo is HOT!!! Though I might have to try their Wasabi Sliders Recipe….

The Weekly Concert: Joshua Radin & Cavo at The Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square – NYC
What a great time!!!  I’m going to tell you more about our trip next week, so stay tuned 😉

The Weekly Activity: Coming up with blog ideas.  It’s not nearly as easy as I thought it would be….

The Weekly Shoes: For half of the week it was my slippers.  Is it weird that I really like slippers that have leather bottoms?  I like them because I tend to trip on carpets with rubber soled ones….
For our trip to NYC I wore my high heeled black boots which usually aren’t a problem.  I don’t think the boots were the problem, but I think my Extra thick Thorlo running socks were.  I got a blister.  Boo!!

The Weekly new people I’ve found on Twitter: Joshua Radin Greeblemonkey and Barbara Walters

The Weekly Charity I’m pimping: My friend Maureen is running a marathon for The Arthritis Foundation.  You can donate to Mo HERE

Weekly Grand Totals:
Number of Trivia Games I won:
3
Number of NYC Blocks Hiked: Felt like thousands, realistically it was about 50 or 60
Number of Pandora items purchased: 2
Average gratuity that was added to our food bills: 19%
Number of cool new people we met in NYC: 2
Number of Jets fans we saw: 100’s
Number of chocolate stores we went to in NYC: 3
Number of batteries Michael went through in his Blackberry Storm on our NYC Trip: 2
Amount of battery I used in my HTC Touch Pro 2 on our NYC Trip: 60%

The Weekly Hypothetical: If you could meet your favorite musician of all time (alive or dead) what would you say to them?  (Also tell me who it is)

The Weekly Not-So-Hypothetical: Did you subscribe to this blog yet?  If not, why not?  What are you waiting for?  The box is in the upper right 😉

Isabella was very happy when we came home 🙂

I’m running so late!
Sorry Folks!

I had an interview today.  Wish me luck.
Cross your finger, cross your toes, cross everything you’ve got!!

The Weekly Read: I’ve been reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold they’ve made a movie of the book that came out in theaters today.  Hopefully I’ll get around to going to see it.  (I tend to wait for the DVD more often than not)

The Weekly Music: We’ve been watching American Idol – need I say more?  95% of it is BAD with a capital B.

The Weekly Movie: I watched the movie Bride Wars.  I liked it.  It stared Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway.  It was a predictable movie about 2 best friends who end up having their weddings the same day at The Plaza Hotel.

I also watched Best Laid Plans.  It stared Reese Witherspoon and had Josh Brolin in it as well.  This movie basically asks the question “Ever feel like the world is conspiring against you?”  It kept my attention.  I probably would have enjoyed it more back in 1999 when it came out.  Reese looked sooo young!  She played her role well though.

The Weekly Worst Piece of Crap on TV: I watched some of The Bachelor the other night.  One of the women got thrown off the show for having an “inapropriate” relationship with one of the crew members on the show.  WTF?  I guess you weren’t there to find your true love after all.  She didn’t even try to deny it.  She questioned why it was anyone’s business on the show though.  LOL!!

The Weekly Schadenfreude: NYS Governor Patterson’s 15 year old son was picked up by the NYPD for being caught playing dice on the street in NYC while in the possession of a credit card that didn’t belong to him.  News story here.  Just goes to reinforce how unorganized Patterson is.  He can’t even keep track of what his child is doing.  I’ve never been a fan of his.  I keep reminding myself that he was appointed when Spitzer resigned.  He wasn’t elected to the post.

The Weekly Yummy Food: I made Orange-Glazed Pork Chops.  I thought they were good.  Michael didn’t care for them.  The glaze is dijon mustard, orange marmalade and mandarin oranges.  Not his thing I suppose, but I have enjoyed it many times.  I also made Oven-baked Shrimp Risotto.  This time Michael liked it too!

The Weekly Amazing Fact: What is know as a “French Kiss” in the English speaking world is known as an “English Kiss” in France.

The Weekly Birthdays: Eva, Nadia, Nick, Erica, Karen & Justin Happy Birthday my friends 🙂

The Weekly Activity: It wasn’t super exciting but we got up at 6AM to take friends to the airport.  (Okay, got up is wrong, I was still awake)  We ran a ton of errands after and accomplished quite a bit.  Of course then we came home and crashed HARD.

The Weekly Cringe-Worthy Television: Didn’t we already talk about American Idol?  The tryouts are just flat out painful to listen to!!

The Weekly new people I’ve found on Twitter: 511NY – They give traffic updates for the Capital Region.

The Weekly Hypothetical: If you and I were stranded on a desert island, what would we talk about? (other than how to get home….)
