We’ve already talked about the best ice cream in the world. Now we’re going to talk about the best pizza. Villiage Pizza III is in Red Hook, NY. Like Holy Cow, it is a local landmark.
Just like Holy Cow I know many people who have moved out of Red Hook who make sure they stop by Village Pizza for a visit whenever they’re in town.
I’ve spoken to many people about what I consider to be the “best pizza.” Many people think it’s all about what you grew up on. If you grew up eating thin crust – that’s what you like. If you grew up on deep dish – you think that’s the best. The pizza here is thin crust with just the right amount of sauce so it doesn’t get soggy. Perfection if you ask me! I spent so much time there growing up that I can hear the familiar squeak and slam of the front door in the place!
I moved to Pittsburgh for a couple years. I brought a Village Pizza pie back with me so they could taste what real pizza was supposed to taste like. Little Caesars is NOT real pizza! Neither is Pizza Hut!!
I grew up on Village Pizza and I love it! Order me up a slice with cold cheese (or mushrooms – or both) and I’m in heaven! (So is Miss Isabella!)
Where do you get your favorite pizza from?? What makes it the best?

I also liked Village Pizza when I lived in Red Hook but where I live now (Herkimer, near Utica) I usually go to a place called Pizza Boys. Their pizza is really good mainly because they make their pizzas in the old New York style. Awesome pizza there.
After living in Red Hook and having Village Pizza for so many years I can find pizza I tolerate, but not pizza I love….
hahahaha the fact that the slice is bigger than Isabella is kinda awesome.
Isn’t it though? She thinks she’s 100 pounds!!
The pizza looks yummy, but now I’m singing Tina Turner! My favorite pizza place is called Les’s Pizza, it’s this itty bitty shop that’s been in my town for 30 years. I used to go there with my Dad when I was a kid and it always reminds me of him. 🙂 Hmmm, maybe a slice for lunch…
I was thinking the Tina Turner thing when I wrote the title but decided to stick with it.
Village Pizza is also an itty bitty shop that’s been in town for years. Though they do have 6 or 8 small tables, it’s still small….
I’d love to have a slice for lunch, but it’s a drive for me to make a special trip (not to say I never have done that….)
[…] Deli and showed you Isabella worn out. We talked about The Worst Father’s Day Gift Ever and Simply The Best Pizza. Later in the week I told you about my friend who said “Live In The Moment and Don’t […]
I too, Rose have grown up on Village Pizza, It is still the best I’ve had and I used to work at Pizza (Yuck!). I have recently started making homemade Pizzas and have enjoyed them but would never turn down a slice of Village’s!
Homemade pizzas are good. I make them myself as a close substitute. My homemade pizza is good, but it’s different.
There’s nothing like Village Pizza 🙂
